Girl From Texas Meets Boy From Rocky

Last week we brought you Thomas & Huma’s beautiful wedding film, which Huma has admitted to watching on well more than one occasion (as did we)! Today are their equally as gorgeous photos from the lovely Jess Crew. Here’s what happened when a beautiful girl from Texas met a boy from Rocky…

I am originally from Texas where I met an Australian couple who were studying abroad at my university. We became friends and when I decided to come to Australia to study for 6 months they took me to their best mate’s gig in Sydney. Their best mate was Thomas and from the second we met we were constantly laughing. He went home and told his friends that he was going to marry me one day, and he was very right. He went back to Brisbane where he lived and I stayed in Sydney and we continued to date for a little over 2 years before we got married.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress.
I found a “pre-loved” boutique wedding shop, The Barefaced Bride, in Cronulla which had so many different designers and styles. I tried on the Johanna Johnson Odetta dress and didn’t want to take it off!

Thomas and his family are originally from Rockhampton, so CQ was the obvious choice. We looked all over Australia and wanted to find a place that not only meant something to us but also reflected our personalities. We came across Henderson Park and didn’t think twice. As soon as we viewed the property and met the owners, Ryan and Nikki, we knew this was the spot. The setting was absolutely beautiful and peaceful, so we had both the ceremony and the reception there.

It was catered by Mercure Resort and the food was amazing. They designed a custom Americana/Australiana menu for us to reflect our heritages. It was the best wedding food we had ever had, and all our guests agreed.

Huma and Tom 46What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome in planning your wedding in Central Queensland.
It was tricky not living in CQ, but we have great friends and family who helped us make decisions from afar. The heavy rain leading up to the wedding had us worried, but it cleared and made the property look spectacular.

All of it. We had the best decorations with the help of our family and perfectly chosen flowers from Lure Living in Yeppoon.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?
The kiss!! And our MC, Tom’s sister Melissa Collins. She was hilarious and kept the party rolling.
What advice do you have for couples currently planning a wedding?
Definitely get a great photographer and videographer who’s work you love! I cannot stress how important this is. We had the best videographers, Living Lens, and photographer, Jess Crew, who captured all of the real moments in such a beautiful way. I have watched my video about a 100000000 times and can’t stop looking at the photos!
