Ben and Nicole’s Agnes Water Wedding

Today’s sweet couple, Ben and Nicole chose to marry at Central Queensland’s picturesque Agnes Water and although very much a classic bride, Nicole took a different approach to her ‘flower girls’, choosing her and Bens’ grandmothers! Thank you to Rhondda Scott Photography for sharing this sweet wedding with us!

How did you both meet? Tell us your love story.
We met in the Central Queensland town of Biloela. It is Nicole’s home town and she had been teaching Year 3 at Biloela State School for a year before Ben moved out to teach Year 7 across the road at St Josephs. He was actually teaching Nicole’s youngest brother Jake. So Nicole knew about Ben and to get him to notice her, she unexpectedly interrupted a parent teacher interview between Ben and her Mum one afternoon. After a few more chance meetings, Ben finally gained the courage to ask Nicole on a date – homemade pizza and movies at Ben’s house. The pizza must have been good, as we didn’t look back and a year later we travelled around Europe for a year eating, sightseeing and collecting a lifetime of memorable moments.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress.
Finding my wedding dress was relatively stress free. I tried on some beautiful dresses in a local store in Gladstone, with my Mum and Grandmother. I then flew down to Brisbane with my bridesmaids and mum there to help me. We went to Casar Elegance first and when I put on my dress I burst into tears and just knew that I had put on the dress that I must get married in. When I walked out of the room and the girls all saw me they started to cry, and I felt like a princess. We went to the other appointment just to be sure but had to go back and order the dress. The dress arrived 7 weeks before the wedding, and was 3 inches too small which made me quite anxious. But in the end Casar Elegance worked with Maggie Sottero to fix my dress and make it a size 0. On the day the dress was more than perfect, and you wouldn’t have known that I had any troubles with it.

Why did you decide to have your wedding in Central Queensland and why are you glad you did?
We have shared so many memories as a couple in Agnes Waters and it meant a lot to us to have it somewhere that held meaning to us as a couple. Also we wanted everyone to feel like they were on holidays by having to travel. It also allowed our guests to have more time with us over the whole weekend, which made the day less stressful because everyone over the weekend had shared some time with us. Plus, it is one of the most gorgeous locations in Central Queensland.

What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome in planning your wedding in Central Queensland.
Trying to plan a wedding on a budget where there are limited suppliers, was difficult. Sourcing things to a remote town was expensive, so to cut back we filled cars and trailers to take everything ourselves. We set up and packed up the venue ourselves. Our wedding day was very personal. We chose and made everything. Our tables were named after our favourite locations from around the world and everything had very personal touches.

Our favourite detail of the wedding was:
We are very close with our families and we wanted them to have a part in our day. Our grandmothers were our flower girls for the wedding ceremony. As you entered the ceremony there was a special table set up with photographs of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days. We can only wish to be as happily married as they all are.

What was your favorite phrase, verse or line from your vows?
I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully, through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together.

What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?
When we first met eyes as Nicole was walking down the aisle, it’s a feeling we will never forget.

What advice do you have for couples currently planning a wedding?
Don’t sweat the small stuff, everything always works out in the end.

Colour Trend 2015 – Marsala – Styled Shoot Inspiration

There are some wedding style trends that I can’t see disappearing between 2014 and 2015, particularly, gold! However, with the announcement of Pantone’s colour of the year comes the impactful, full-bodied marsala, which makes for an elegant, grounded statement colour when used on its own or as a strong accent to many other colours – this is a trend that we hope to see more of in 2015! Today’s shoot is a beautiful example of incorporating marsala into an elegant and modern wedding. Thank you to the incredibly talented When Elephant met Zebra and the team from A Darling Affair for sharing their impeccably styled shoot to inspire us all in the new year!
