Rustic Glam Henderson Park Wedding: Kelly & Chris

I was eagerly anticipating seeing Kelly and Chris’ wedding photos after sharing their engagement shoot a few months ago, and as expected their day was incredibly beautiful and perfectly captured. Big hugs to the lovely Madelyn from Madelyn Holmes Photographics for sharing this day with us and congratulations Kelly and Chris, we hope you are loving married life!

Kelly_Chris_026Tell us how you met:
Chris and I met when his cousin introduced us late one night seven years ago. We hit it off quickly and about a month later after seeing each other everyday, he asked me to be his girlfriend.
Tell us about the engagement!
Chris and I went out to dinner for our six year anniversary and Chris told me he wanted to propose but didn’t know what ring I would like because over the years I had circled too many different rings in catalogues. So we went ring shopping together at numerous Tiffany and Co stores while travelling through America with my family. Every time we saw a store we would quickly sneak away from the group as we wanted to keep it a secret. Eventually we found the ring at the Tiffany & Co store in the Bellagio in Las Vegas where we were staying.
Chris asked my Dad for his blessing and also to keep it a secret. That didn’t last long though… At dinner that night Dad came over and said congratulations and hugged us in front of the rest of the family but Chris hadn’t actually proposed yet. I tried to brush it off but everyone was onto us so the pressure was on – Chris kept me waiting anyway.
It wasn’t until near the end of our trip while we spending Christmas day in Whistler, Canada that Chris popped the question. It was the white Christmas our family had always dreamed about growing up. After we had done the gift exchange with the family, Chris took me upstairs to our room and asked me to marry him. Obviously I said yes!
Kelly_Chris_042Kelly_Chris_043A memorable moment:
The most memorable moment for me was walking down the aisle with my mum and dad by my side to see Chris for the first time and watching him wiping away tears of joy – something I will never forget. For us to say our vows to each other in front of all our closest family and friends is truly something we will always treasure.
Tell us about the location:
Our ceremony and reception were held at the one venue, Henderson Park Farm Retreat. We chose this venue for the beautiful landscape, excellent facilities such as the marquee and accomodation and the relaxed atmosphere. It was the first place we looked at and it ticked all of the boxes.
The theme/style I was going for was rustic vintage with a touch of glamour.
Who was your photographer?
Madelyn Holmes Photographs was our amazing photographer. I knew her personally through friends but had always loved her style and I knew the moment we got engaged I wanted her to be our photographer. Her photos are so natural but the colours are so vibrant. We are over the moon with our photos from the day, she caught all the special moments and the locations she chose around Henderson Park were breathtaking.

Special details: I wanted to make as many decorations as I could for the wedding to make it more personalised and our stylist was so supportive of this. For our table centrepieces I spray painted empty wine bottles gold to use as vases and added glitter to our table numbers. The touch of gold really popped around the reception.
Chris hand made the love heart C + K signs which we used as a backdrop behind the sweet heart bridal table and as signs to mark the turn offs into the venue. Chris also made the Mr and Mrs signs for our chairs which I also added glitter to.
Unfortunately Chris’ grandparents are no longer with us and we wanted to incorporate them into our day so Chris had a picture of them in his pocket and we also had a little horse shoe charm from the top of their anniversary cake on top of our wedding cake.
